“On Feb. 1, I received a call alerting me that there was a biker with a bone sticking out of his leg up on the NONATO trail (thank god it was not that bad after all). We immediately activated the LaVESTA volunteer rescue team and headed out. About ½ hour later I was onsite and VERY relieved to see the Paramedics from Grupo Sierra. They had already loaded the patient onto the backboard and we started extrication. The paramedics were very professional and expertly instructed the arrived LaVESTA volunteer team, assigning tasks and in intervals switching carriers, and creating a safety human chain down steep slopes. Together we carried the patient about 2 miles to the waiting ambulance. We are really lucky to have such a capable and well trained paramedics and ambulance team in town. The patient is well, under the circumstances, and is recovering”. – Peter Aschwanden

They arrived quickly, stabilized me and then rushed me off to La Paz where a medical team, who had already been notified by Lupita, were waiting for my arrival.
